Famous Hoosier poet James Whitcomb Riley visited Pierceton Elementary School March 19. Fourth-graders learned some fascinating history regarding Riley just as he was entering the world of entertainment as part of a traveling medicine show, as well as his colorful struggles to find fame before becoming one of America's most popular writers. Students listened to some of Riley's best-loved poems, including 'Little Orphant Annie,' 'The Raggedy Man,' 'When the Frost Is on the Punkin' and many others. Danny Russel (pictured), from Indianapolis, portrayed the living history of Riley.
