Riley Kids Fund Matched $50k

Posted
The Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund, held at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, recently received a matching grant of $50,000 from the K21 Health Foundation.

In less than two months, generous community members raised the initial $50,000. Gifts came in all sizes, from corporate gifts to children collecting nickels and dimes in their neighborhoods.

President and CEO of K21 Health Foundation Rich Haddad said, “K21 was hoping to create a win-win-win opportunity: Riley and Kosciusko families being supported, encouraging those putting a lot of effort in raising funds and raising the awareness of need. I believe this and more came from this matching grant.”

The Riley Hospital for Children provides specialized medical care for more than 1,000 children from Kosciusko County each year. Fund founders Alan Alderfer and Mike Bergen recognized need among the families of Kosciusko County whose children are treated at Riley.

Kosciusko Community Foundation Executive Director Suzie Light said, “It is amazing that in less than two months, so many have contributed to the needs of their fellow community members.”
