MILFORD – Rick D. Adams, 50, of Milford, went home to be with the Lord at 8:10 a.m. July 10, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and a great cloud of witnesses.
He was born April 16, 1961, in Warsaw, to Leonard Jr. and Eva Nelson Adams. On Sept. 26, 1981, he married the love of his life, Vickie Hall, who survives.
He was a 1979 graduate of Whitko High School and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1980, where he served his country honorably for nine years. He ended his career in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant. After leaving the U.S. Air Force, he worked several years in the R.V. industry and his most recent job was with Brock Manufacturing, Milford. In June 2009, he was stricken with an illness that would take him from us far too quickly.
He was a member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and softball coach. He was a huge fan of the Indianapolis Colts and he enjoyed wood working, carpentry and most of all, cherished spending time with friends and family. He loved his family deeply and the Lord even more. He served the Lord for many years and faithfully through his battle with cancer. He touched many lives and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Also surviving are three sons: Matt Adams, Warsaw; Phillip (and spouse Jessica) Adams, Muncie; and Ricky (and spouse Ashley) Adams, Fort Wayne; three granddaughters: Hailey, Madelynn and Payton and one to be determined grandchild; his mother, Eva Adams, North Manchester; two brothers, Jim (and spouse Deb) Adams and Wayne (and spouse Rita) Adams, all of Claypool; and a sister, Dunyalle (and spouse Kirk) Tolliver, Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Adams Jr., and a sister, Marjorie Hughes.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Warsaw Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Gale Janofski and Andrew Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Claypool Cemetery with military honors.
