Richard “Rick” D. Kerr, 81, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, in Pierceton at his residence.
Rick was born on May 9, 1945, in Warsaw to the late Richard “Dick” N. and Rosemary Heiman Kerr.
He married Winifred “Gail” Barber Kerr on Aug. 17, 1996, in Pierceton. The couple would make the Pierceton area their home and share 20 years of love, laughter and memories before her passing in 2015.
Rick graduated from Pierceton High School in 1963. He was employed by R.R. Donnelley & Sons prior to joining the U.S. Army. He proudly served our country in the Vietnam Conflict from 1965-1967. After his dedicated service, Rick returned to work as a press operator for Donnelley’s until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time in his garden and being outdoors. He greatly cherished the time he spent with his friends and loved westerns and watching old movies.
Rick is survived by his children, Shala (Scott) Bradley, South Whitley; Shane (Jessica) Kerr, Pierceton; stepchildren, Misty (Andy) Snyder, Warsaw; and Justin (Crystal) Kinsey, Pierceton; siblings, Barb Kintzel, Pierceton; and Kevin (Laurie) Kerr, Larwill. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Treyson, Trenden and Tanavah Bradley, Laicey and Lucas Snyder, Jozlyn and Charly Kinsey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Winifred “Gail” Kerr; and brother, Stephen M. Kerr.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 105 First St., Pierceton. Funeral services will begin at noon, with Lew Collier officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
