SYRACUSE – Richard “Ric” Workman, 63, of Syracuse, passed away July 18, 2012, in Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born July 20, 1948, in Syracuse, to Dick and Donna Galloway Workman. His wife, Ruth Ann Voorheis, survives in Syracuse.
He was a very well-known musician in the area, having performed for more than four decades. He started off at an early age with his band the Tiki’s. He also played in the ’70s with the Laketrash Band who later reformed and played in the 2000s. He was most recently playing with the Gerri-Attrix Band. He was known as the Kosciusko County’s King of Karaoke. He was literally the hardest working musician around. He had also been working at Daren Industries at the time of his passing.
Also surviving are a daughter, Amanda Workman-Bender, Elkhart; two sons, Garin Kirk Voorheis, Syracuse, and Michael (and spouse Leslie) Voorheis, Nashville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Brandin and Brittan Bender; his parents; and two brothers, Mark Workman, Barbee Lake, and David Workman, Syracuse.
A celebration of life will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse.
