AKRON – Richard L. Moyer, 77, of Akron, died at 9:20 a.m. Oct. 12, 2012, in Parkview Reginal Medical Center, Fort Wayne, where he was hospitalized since Oct. 6.
He was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Wabash County, to George and Barbara Kuhn Moyer. On Sept. 5, 1953, at Olive Branch Church of God, Roann, he married Norma Leiter, who survives.
He formerly worked at Peabody Manufacturing, North Manchester, and was a farmer and livestock truck driver. Most recently he did custom lawn mowing. He was a member of Silver Creek Church of God. He enjoyed visiting with people and loved watching the happenings of town from his chair on the front porch. He loved his dog, Lovey. In his earlier years he enjoyed racing trotting horses.
Also surviving are two daughters, Denise Cody, Columbia City, and Teresa (and spouse Gary) Ensign, Mentone; seven sons: Randy (and spouse Tina) Moyer and Don (and spouse Tina), all of Nappanee; Terry Moyer, Columbia City; Gary (and spouse Holly) Moyer, Argos; Danny Moyer, Columbia City; Bob and Patty Moyer, Peru; and Chris Moyer, North Manchester; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Tom Craig officiating. Burial will be in Gaerte Cemetery, Macy.
