Richard L. 'Dick' Prickett

WABASH – Richard L. “Dick” Prickett Sr., 79, of Leesburg, died at 4:45 a.m. April 20, 2011, in Wabash County Hospital.
He was born March 19, 1932, in Wabash, to the Rev. Ralph and Bernice M. Fosnaugh Prickett. On Dec. 22, 1950, in Wabash, he married Sarah K. Siders, who died Oct. 15, 1981. On Sept. 3, 1982, he married Marilyn Crandall Harris, who survives
He was a 1950 graduate of Linlawn High School and attended Ball State University. He worked 25 years for Honeywell Inc., and retired from Ford Meter Box in 1997 as the senior vice president of manufacturing.  He served in the U.S. Army reserves several years. He was a member of Wabash Christian Church and attended Leesburg United Methodist Church and Sun City, Ariz., Christian Church. He was past president of the Wabash Area Chamber of Commerce, former chairman of the Wabash City School Board, former chairman of the Wabash County Hospital Board of Directors and was involved with the founding of the Hope Oncology Unit. He was a longtime member of the Wabash Rotary Club and served on several committees for the City of Wabash. He was a longtime resident of Wabash before retiring to Tippecanoe Lake in 1999, and wintered in Sun City, Ariz., 11 years.
Also surviving are two children, Richard L. (and spouse Julie) Prickett Jr., Nashville, Tenn., and Kathryn D. (and spouse Randall) Henderson, Wabash;  three stepsons: David (and spouse Vicki) Harris, Washington D.C.; Daniel Harris, Wabash; and Douglas Harris, Elkhart; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ivy (and spouse David) Miller, and Mary Prickett, all of Wabash, and Jennie Kraker, Valparaiso; and brother, R.C. Prickett, St. Cloud, Fla.  He was preceded in death by a son, Frederick R. Prickett, who died Aug. 16, 2003; a brother, Ralph Prickett Jr.; and half sister, Dorothy Cassidy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash.
