Richard L. AdamsonAKRON – Richard L. Adamson, 81, of Akron, Ind., passed at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester, Ind.
He was born on Jan. 19, 1938, in Rochester, to Paul and Eula Stanley Adamson.
He was married on July 23, 1960, in Argos, Ind., to Shirley Luckenbill. She preceded him on March 25, 2016.
Dick worked for the Fulton County Highway Dept., the Fulton County Sherriff’s Dept. and the Indiana Dept. of Transportation. He also owned and operated A&M Service Station of Rochester.
He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was a member of the American Legion Post #36 of Rochester. He had been very involved with the Fulton County Republican Party. He enjoyed woodworking of all kinds and collecting guns and knives. He also enjoyed spending time with his McDonald’s group for many years.
He is survived by half brothers, Terri Adamson of Rochester and Butch (Myra) Hild of Terre Haute, Ind.; half sister, Sandy Kelly of Terre Haute; cousin Barb (Jim) Means of Rushville, Ind.; niece, Kathy (Norman) Prater of Akron; nephews Daniel (Sherri) Grindle of Millersburg, Ind., and Jeffery Grindle of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister-in-law Judy (Bruce) Grindle of Syracuse, Ind.; and special friend, Bert Lyon of Beaver Dam Lake, Ind.
He was preceded in death by parents, Paul and Eula Adamson; wife, Shirley Adamson; sister, Judy; and a brother, Paul Duane.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 23 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Pastor Vern Hostetler presiding.
Burial will be at Akron Cemetery, Akron.
