NORTH MANCHESTER – Richard G. Little, 86, North Manchester, and formerly of Bippus, died at 11:40 a.m. Aug. 26, 2013, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born May 14, 1927, in Huntington, to Willard and Emma Murray Little. On Sept. 12, 1948, he married Phyllis A. Schuler, who survives.
He was retired from farming and from Huntington County Community Schools after serving 15 years as a custodian and football field groundskeeper. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Huntington, and attended chapel at Timbercrest.
He graduated from Chester High School in 1945 where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams.  He was active in 4-H, a four-year member of rural youth, a township leader for 25 years, coached six demonstrations to the Indiana State Fair with three winning first place, a state fair judge for five years, District Tractor Leader and a 40-year member of the State 4-H Tractor Program where he coached five national tractor contest winners. He was a former member of the Bippus Lions Club and an active member of Indiana Farm Bureau for more than 65 years.
Also surviving are two sons, John R. (and spouse Patsy) Little, Marion; and Kent A. (and spouse Michelle) Little, Silver Lake; three daughters: Susanne (and spouse Ernest) Crane, Orleans; Elaine A. (and spouse Gregory) Lucas, Indianapolis; and Cheryl H. (and spouse Lynn) Wilcox, Lagro; a brother, Robert (and spouse Betty) Little, Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. Burial will be at Roann Community Cemetery.
Calling will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13 at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, and one hour prior to services Sept. 14 at Timbercrest Chapel.
