AKRON – Richard F. “Mick” Harding Jr., 80, of 269 Meadow View Drive, Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru, and formerly of the Roann and Gilead, died at 6:28 p.m. Sept. 6, 2012, in St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Peru, Ind., to Richard F. and Helen Miller Harding. On Oct. 6, 1971, in La Puente, Calif., he married Martha M. Broadley Doolittle, who survives in Peru. He worked at General Tire, Wabash, retiring in 1991. He graduated from Gilead High School in 1950. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Rochester. Also surviving are two daughters, Lesa (and spouse Steve) Petrosky, Akron, and Cindy (and spouse David) Harlow, Rochester; two sons, Richard L. (and spouse Joyce) Harding and Charles Harding, Rochester; two stepdaughters and two stepsons; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Craig Harding, Logansport. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Rev. Lowell Burrus officiating. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery.
