Richard E. 'Dick' Boganwright

MENTONE - Richard E. "Dick" Boganwright, 80, of 8147 S. CR 1000W, Claypool, died at 9:10 p.m. March 7, 2009, in his residence.

He was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Mentone, to Leonard and Treva Harsh Boganwright. On March 2, 1957, in Mentone Methodist Church, he married Juanita I. Fear, who survives.

He worked at Eber's What Not & Novelties Store, Mentone, for many years, and for the United States Postal Service for 38 years, where he achieved assistant post master. He also raised Angus cattle. He was a 1946 Beaver Dam High School graduate and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War as a part of the 81st Moratorium Combat. He lived on a Hoosier Homestead Farm, which was in his wife's family for more than 100 years.

He was a faithful member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, where he served and held nearly every position, and was a member of American Legion Post 49, Warsaw.

Also surviving are a daughter, Theresa (and spouse Randy) Alber, Claypool; a son, Tim (and souse Sara) Boganwright, Claypool; five grandchildren: Derek and Daren Alber; Dana Meyer; and Trent, Tyler and Sofie Boganwright; and two sisters, Iris Davis and Lois Miller, both of Mentone. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Boganwright.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, 9798 W. CR 1000S, Akron, with the Revs. Jacqueline Foley and Butch Troke officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery with military rights by members of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Warsaw.

Calling is from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
