Richard A. Allen, 84, died at 8 a.m. Oct. 28, 2014, at his residence. He was born March 16, 1930, in Leesburg, to Herman and Helen Yeager Allen. On June 12, 1949, he married Juanita B. Miller, who survives in Leesburg. He grew up in Detroit, Mich., until 1946 when his family moved to Leesburg. He was a graduate of Leesburg High School, and he worked at Dalton Corporation as a pre-production engineer for 34 years. He was active as a troop leader with the Oswego Boy Scouts for many years, and was awarded the Silver Beaver Distinguished Service to Youth award from Anthony Wayne Area Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the Leesburg Lions Club and Leesburg United Methodist Church. Also surviving are a son, Steven Allen, Noblesville; a daughter, Beth (and spouse Todd) Hofmann, Leesburg; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Robert Allen, Leesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Max Allen. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Robert Seewald officiating. Burial is in Oswego Cemetery.
