EDWARDSBURG, Mich. - R.G. Ackels, 93, of Warsaw and Edwardsburg, Mich., died March 8, 2009, in his son's residence in Warsaw.
He was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Gratiot County, Mich., to Burl and Gladys Rhynard Ackels. On March 7, 1940, in St. Johns, Mich., he married Isabel Mae Stoll, who died May 5, 2001.
He was a retired farmer and had worked in the foundry at Cadillac Malleable Iron in Cadillac, Mich. He lived in Rincon, Ga.; Cadillac, Mich.; Warsaw and Edwardsburg.
Surviving are three sons, Roger Ackels and Larry (and spouse Sandra) Ackels, all of Edwardsburg, and Dennis (and spouse Michele) Ackels, Warsaw; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Garnet Wright, Lowell, Mich., and Opal Pringle, Bay City, Mich. He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg, with the Rev. Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Edwardsburg Cemetery.
Calling is from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
