Rex Leroy Tinkey, 84, Leesburg, passed away at 9:50 p.m. May 3, 2014, at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester.
He was born March 18, 1930, in Warsaw to Forest S. and Mildred Irene Polk Tinkey. On Dec. 11, 1948, in Pierceton he married Jacqueline Rose Stroupe Tinkey, who survives in Leesburg.
He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he was a 1948 graduate of Pierceton High School. He then joined the U.S. Marines in 1948 and served for a number of years until his honorable discharge. He retired in 1992 as a sales engineer at Whitley Products in Pierceton. He was a 50-year member of the Pierceton Masonic Lodge #377, member of the North Webster American Legion Post 253, and he loved to play bridge and golf.
He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Rick Tinkey, Warsaw, and Thad Tinkey, Englewood, Fla.; one granddaughter, Kayla (and spouse Teric) McCool, Milford; and two grandsons, Dan and Phil Tinkey, both of Syracuse. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
No services or visitation are planned. A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
