COLUMBIA CITY - Rex A. Juillerat, 68, of Whitley County, died of complications of cancer at 1:35 a.m. June 10, 2007, in his residence.

He was born Dec. 6, 1938, in Whitley County, to Donald W. and Orpha A. Gradeless Juillerat. On Feb. 10, 1962, he married Mary Ann Snodgrass, who survives.

He graduated from Larwill High School in 1956. Enlisting in the U.S. Army on June 11, 1956, he served as a cook in Fort Riley, Kan.; Fort Dix, New Jersey; and Eniwetok Atoll, Marshall Islands. He was honorably discharged May 31, 1962. He lived in the Larwill area until 1969, when he moved to Westville. He returned to Etna Troy Township in 1978. He trucked grain for Junior Gaerte and worked for Chamberlin Products and Daily Express. From 1968-78, he built and managed trucking terminals for Keen Transport, Westville, for eight years and later Peoria, Ill. He worked at Cardinal Center/KABS for 16 years. In 1994, he began driving escort for Whitley Trailer Sales, South Whitley.

Also surviving are three children, William S. and Steven M. Juillerat, both of Larwill, and Mrs. Terry (Susan Diane) Pelz, Warsaw; six grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Juillerat, Columbia City. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with Pastor Myron Drent officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View/Snodgrass Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
