FRANKFORT - The Rev. Ray E. Mills, 83, of Wesley Manor Retirement Community, Frankfort, died Aug. 12, 2007, in his residence.
He was born April 4, 1924, in Gillett Grove, Iowa, to Ross and Pearl Bargloff Mills. He married Ruth Elizabeth Missal, who died March 11, 1995. On May 24, 1997, he married Opal Lathrop, who survives.
He was a United Methodist pastor from 1951-86, than a minister of visitation in Michigan City. He served the following United Methodist Churches; North Liberty from 1954-59; Grace, Rochester, from 1959-64; Gary City from 1964-67; St. Matthew, Frankfort, from 1967-73; Warsaw First from 1973-82; Muncie Gethsemane from 1982-1984; and Merrillville from 1984-86. He was a member of North Indiana Conference and Singing Saints, and a former Kiwanis member.
Also surviving are Mark Mills, Logansport; and Beckie E. M. Clawson, Elkhart; two stepdaughters, Doris Winans, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Russell (Dorothy) May, Lans Downe, Va.; a sister, Mrs. George (Fay) Lanz, Spencer, Iowa; two brothers, Charles Mills, Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Kay Mills, Raymore, Mo.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wesley Manor Amanda Reid Chapel with Pastor Lore Blinn Gibson officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. (CST) at Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Genda Funeral Home, Frankfort, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the chapel.
