I cannot believe people are defending a contractor that does nothing but rip people off. My sister and her husband own a local business that did some work for this person in May.While they were working for him, he proceeded to tell them he owned the property they were working at and the property behind it. Well, the work was completed and they have still not been paid. He gave them two different addresses to send the bill to, both which were returned.
We came to find out later, after doing some research, he doesn't even own that property or the land behind it and the man that owns the property they worked at is looking for him, too.
Every time they would call him, either he "couldn't hear them, my phone isn't working" or he wouldn't answer. He never returned their calls and never mentioned being sick or filing for bankruptcy.
When the story came out about him in the Times-Union a few weeks ago, my sister called him and he finally answered his phone. He said he was at the hospital and that he filed for bankruptcy, but not against them and he would like to make payment arrangements. My sister told him he needed to call her husband. He said he would call him right away. Guess what? That was the last she heard from him. He never called my brother-in-law, even though he has his work number and cell number, and now he won't answer his phone.
I don't feel a bit sorry this individual. How is anyone supposed to believe his claims now after he has lied to so many people?
