Residents Asked To Follow Trash Requirements

Posted

The Warsaw Public Works Department is seeking the assistance of city residents in following established requirements in regards to trash collection.

Public Works Superinten-dent Lacy Francis reminds residents garbage and trash must put in a proper container with a lid. The containers should be plastic or metal, with drain holes in the bottom. Garbage must be in bags inside the container.

The department also requests that the 40-pound weight limit be observed.

Garbage containers should be left by the rear-yard alley or, if there is no alley, the containers should be placed on the front street curb.

Yard waste, such as grass clippings, garden waste and cut brush should be bagged or bundled, and not weigh more than 40 pounds. Limbs should be bundled and be no longer than 4 feet and have a maximum diameter of 6 inches.

Large items and appliances will also be collected. However, no building materials, auto parts, tires or whole carpets will be collected. Appliances must have freon removed by a qualified technician and contain a tag verifying such. The compressor must be removed and placed beside the appliance.
