First off, silence, not hardly. Secondly, I would like to apologize to you, Anthony Burchette. You did not say anything bad about community colleges. You mentioned "no-name" colleges, and I took something that does not exist for something that does. Congratulations, you actually proved me wrong on one point.
However, before you get on your high horse and parade around Anthony-Land (that's your mind) about how you were proven right for once, I still do not get how you come up with your notion of Sarah Palin's educational history. I Googled "six years" just as you said I should do and do you know what I came up with? A woman in Orlando who died after six years on a couch, a book about the dematerialization of the Art Object from 1966 to 1972, the article I cited about how four-year colleges graduated 53 percent of their students in six years, reflections six years after Sept. 11, and the patch history of Microsoft products among other things.
I scoured through several pages of the Google index - that was fun, pointless, but fun. I then Googled Sarah Palin and I came up with that she attended Hawaii Pacific University (fall semester 1982), North Idaho College (spring and fall semester in 1983), the University of Idaho (fall 1984), Matanuska-Susitna College (fall 1985), then back to University of Idaho (spring and fall of 1986 then the fall of 1987). I found that all from a source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin). If she attended the University of Hawaii-Hilo, I need you tell me 1) where you found that source and 2) if she attended, and left because it was rainy, why should I care?
I also graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from Purdue University and I took six years. The only reason is that I changed majors because I had a different career objective. Am I proud that I graduated? You bet. Does it bother me that I took six years to graduate? Nope.
We can spend the time going over a trivial argument on how long it took her to graduate from college, but let us look at what she has done with that degree. She was an elected mayor, the youngest governor in the history of Alaska, a vice presidential candidate on a major ticket, and signed a multi-million dollar deal to write a book. If you want to link education accomplishments with their aftermath of that education - Sarah Palin is way out of our league.
As for Glenn Beck, I cannot speak for him on if he really knows James Madison, but you can ask him for yourself. Feel free to call him at 888-727-BECK (2325) and ask him yourself. Just remember that he wants facts to back up conjecture and generalization which you do not bring to the table here in your letters. Also, I will not give you my e-mail. I get enough in the letters that I read in the paper.
P.S. Do not worry, Janet Collins, I'm working on my response to you.
