Republican Tea

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

People at these Tea Party events are nothing more than a right-wing angry fringe radical group who don't like Obama to begin with and won't even give the guy a chance. You will see many anti-Obama signs, anti-Democrat signs and so on. The whole thing is completely bogus.

Not only that, but the real Tea Party stole that tea didn't they? These people are buying that tea, and therefore probably paying taxes on it. Also, not everyone will do it, or you just lose your job. Happens to protesters without unions all the time.

Beck, Hannity and most all the others on FoxNews are feeding this moronic protest.

Complaining and criticizing everything seems to be all Republicans have left. I don't know about you but my taxes haven't gone up. First time in eight years I received a federal refund.

We know Wall Street did "insider trading" and misrepresented its products. You say "we are borrowing from our grandkids." Truth be told. Every administration does it. Republican too! It's called a budget. Your bantering about numbers doesn't make them facts. President Obama will account for the war expenditures in his budget and show total U.S. spending. If the wars wind down, he will then show a reduction in the deficit while still growing the government.

Republicans should really try to learn some new tricks - the old ones are getting really, really stale.

The Republicans controlled the White House for 20 of the last 28 years. They controlled the Congress for 10 of the last 12 years.

The national debt has doubled to $10 trillion in the eight years. It went from $2.6 trillion to over $4 trillion during Bush 41 and from less than a trillion to more than 2 trillion when Reagan was president.

The only Democratic administration in the last 28 years (other than the one just starting) is the only one that had a balanced budget, even generating surpluses to reduce the debt.

And now these partisan morons are on street corners laying claim for the Republican Party to assert that it is the party of fiscal responsibility.

Republicans clearly spent over $9 trillion in eight years by twisting a $3.25 trillion debt with annual $500 billion surplus handed to them by Clinton into $12 trillion debt with annual $2 trillion deficit.

We did not "stay the course" or the total national debt would have been zero ($0) in six years with a $1.5 trillion total surplus today.

These are all non-disputable Google-searchable charts and data. You can form your own opinions. However, you cannot form your own facts. There's your comedy.

If people want to get together, pour a cup of tea and vent their spleen, well, isn't that the American way?

Personally, I approve of how things are headed. But if you're one of the people who don't, I think having a cup of tea is a great idea. May I suggest peppermint? Life just doesn't seem so bad when you're sipping peppermint tea.

Or chamomile. Chamomile tea's supposed to be very calming. Seems like some people are getting themselves into a tizzy over every flutter of an eyelash and every imagined flutter of an eyelash. So go ahead, pass the chamomile around, gripe with your friends, and maybe you'll calm down enough to see why we have deficits.

I'm all for hosting "calm down" parties.
