Report Of Drugs Near Infant Brings Arrest In Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER – A Laketon woman was arrested on numerous drug charges Thursday after a North Manchester Police Department officer was told illegal drugs were being used around an infant.
On Thursday, North Manchester Police Department officer Devin Bechtold was informed about illegal drugs being used around an infant, according to a NMPD news release. He was able to obtain a search warrant from the information he was given.
At 3:05 p.m., NMPD, Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and Wabash County Drug Task Force officers served the search warrant in the 100 block of South Merkle Street.
Ashley N. Hopkins, 32, Laketon, was arrested on charges of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
Charges of neglect of a dependent and possession and/or dealing within 500 feet of school property are being sent to the Wabash County prosecutor for review, the release states.
Charges against other people found inside the residence are being sent to the Wabash County Probation Department and prosecutor’s office.
The Indiana Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline was contacted in regards to the welfare of the child.
