BURKET - More information involving an incident with three people being struck by a vehicle in Burket last week has become available.

In a report filed this weekend at the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, KCSD deputy Jeff Howie responded to a dispatch call at 8:11 p.m. July 21. The call was concerning a report of a black truck running over people.

Mentone Officer Terry Engstrand was first on the scene, and was able to get the parties separated.

According to the driver of the truck, Glenn Burkett, he was jumped by his sister, Suzanne Bibler, and her husband, Brad Bibler. As Burkett tried to get away, Suzanne grabbed him by the throat.

Burkett said he put his truck in reverse to leave, and while he did, Suzanne fell out of the truck and was struck in the shoulder area.

Burkett said other people started toward his vehicle, and as he left, he struck Brad and Cora Warner, Burket.

All three were flown to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, by Samaritan Helicopter.

According to Suzanne, she confronted Glenn about a civil matter when an argument ensued.

Burkett went to his shop and told his son, Allen Burkett, what happened.

According to the police report, Glenn Burkett said Allen went to confront the crowd, and Glenn returned to put himself between his son and the crowd.

On July 23, Howie interviewed the Biblers.

Suzanne said the incident started over a civil matter between her and Glenn Burket.

Suzanne said she got into the vehicle, and as she did, Glenn slammed the gas pedal of his truck.

The Biblers said Burkett started dragging Brad down the road in his truck, though Brad was able to free himself.

The Biblers then stated Burkett headed toward Warner, and Warner was unable to get out of the way.

The Biblers told police that after Burkett left, he returned five minutes later and began throwing punches at the two of them.

Pictures were take of all the injuries.

Several witness statements were taken, and Burkett submitted to a toxicology screen with results pending.

The incident remains under investigation.
