Rep. Kubacki Welcomes Students From WCHS At Statehouse

STATEHOUSE - The Indiana Statehouse hosted 120 students from eight Indiana counties during the seventh annual Latino Page Day Monday.
State Rep. Rebecca Kubacki (R-Syracuse) welcomed 11 students from Warsaw Community High School.
“I am so proud to see so many students participating in Latino Page Day here at the Statehouse,” Kubacki said. “I fully believe these are the future leaders of our community and state. It’s very encouraging to see the great things that these students are doing with their lives and in their school system. I’m truly honored to represent them as a Latina.”
Along with visiting the capitol building and touring locations such as the governor's office, the chambers of the Indiana House and Senate and the Indiana Supreme Court, pages also get the chance to witness floor sessions and committee meetings, in addition to helping legislators and staff members.
“The page program is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience state government,” Kubacki said. “There is nothing better than being a part of the legislative process for a day. I highly encourage students to apply and come see a day firsthand.”
Interested students are encouraged to schedule their visit quickly, as spots fill up fast. Pages are asked to include two different dates for when they can come to the Statehouse, which will be accepting pages until the end of April.
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best days to serve because that is when the House is in session. There are no pages on Fridays.
