Laurie Renier was selected as the new Kosciusko County assessor at the Tuesday caucus by 40 precinct committee members.
The vote was completed on the first ballot, according to county auditor Sue Ann Mitchell.
Renier replaces Sharon R. Thompson, 55, a Republican, who died July 24 in Kosciusko Community Hospital. Renier has been the acting assessor and has been with the assessor's office for 15 years.
The other candidates included Darby Davis and Marsha McSherry.
