INDIANAPOLIS - Deputy Marshals Troy L. Ruthruff and Chad Stevens, Winona Lake Police Dept., and Ptl. Robert C. Moore, Syracuse Police Dept., will graduate from the basic training course at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Plainfield, Dec. 23.
Former county Fireman of the Year John Irwin, of Burket, presented Burket Fire Chief John Huff with the department's Fireman of the Year award.
Kathryn J. Locke, North Webster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Locke, Syracuse, named recently as one of the 300 superior rated students in the freshman class of Indiana University. Locke, graduate of North Webster High School last year, received the rating after scholastic testing in English compositions, literature, foreign languages, chemistry, government and mathematics.
The Pierceton Cubs swamped Coach Charlie Reece's Claypool High School five at Claypool by a score of 21 to 11. The Pierceton reserves also won by a score of 22 to 16. Wolf, lanky Pierceton center, was the star and high-point man of the contest, netting a total of seven points. The lineups were: Pierceton: Grindle, Brunsworth, Wolf, Lightfoot, Gebert, Robbins, Moser and Cole. Claypool: Shively, Merkle, M. Guinee, Snoke, Freshour, Minear, Bloom, Hatfield and T. Guinee.
