In a move which they acknowledge "probably won't satisfy anyone," the State Board of Tax Commissioners voted 3-2 to set Warsaw Community Schools' cumulative building fund rate at 65 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The school system's request for the maximum $1.25 per $100 assessed valuation was denied and kept at its present level.
Robert Jones, Republican, Mentone clerk-treasurer, who was defeated by one vote in his efforts for re-election Nov. 3, said today he would announce by next week whether he would ask for a recount of the ballots.
The employees of the Warsaw Laundry company pleasantly surprised one of its members, Earl Johnson, on his birthday anniversary. Progressive bunco was enjoyed with Lucy Whiteneck and Thurlow Thompson winning prizes for high scores and Celia Phillips and Earl Johnson, consolation prizes. After Mr. Johnson blew out all the candles at one time, refreshments were enjoyed.
