In the first photo, county firefighters pay their respects to Winona Lake Fire Chief Mitch Titus while filing past his casket at The Winona Heritage Home Wednesday evening. Titus was injured in a work accident May 3 and died Sunday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Family and friends were invited to share condolences and memories during visitation Wednesday at Heritage Home. The funeral was held Thursday at Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center, with Pastors Denny Wilson and Jeff Pfeifer officiating. Burial was Thursday in Oakwood Cemetery. In the second photo, emergency vehicles pass under a flag at the cemetery during the funeral procession for Titus. On Thursday, 3rd District U.S. Rep. Jim Banks, R-Columbia City, gave a speech on the House floor honoring Titus.
