Michelle Pribbernow, Jason Torrence and Sarah Hogan were first, second and third, respectively, in the Summer Tiger Scholar Program. Students earned tickets by writing reports on books read during the summer and on other summer activities, then used the tickets to enter a raffle. Pribbernow received a stereo system in the raffle; Torrence, a Walkman; and Hogan, a $25 gift certificate to a music store.
A local woman appeared at the recent bloodmobile visit to Warsaw when it was named in her honor. Geneva Gast Day was held at the Elks Club and the visit was sponsored by Elks 802 Auxiliary. Gast was active in the blood program for years, former chairman of the Red Cross volunteers and member of the Elks Auxiliary.
Three more Kosciusko County 4-H club members have won awards at the state fair, it was announced today.
Ben H. Winebrenner, district highway superintendent, announced today that the state highway commission is putting new stone on the three cuts between Columbia City and Warsaw on state road No. 30. The stone will then be given a coat of tar. The tar machine is now at Albion but will be brought to Columbia City within a week or 10 days.
