"Spike" Stidham congratulated Charles Light and Richard Whitinger on making the first holes-in-one at the new V&B golf club. Whitinger, in his first year of playing golf, canned his ace on July 22 on the par three, 130-yard eighth hole. He used a seven iron and ended up shooting a 45 for the day. Light recorded his hole-in-one the following day on the same hole with a pitching wedge. He shot an even par 32.

Alert citizens of Warsaw assisted the large LeTourneau airplane in making a landing at Warsaw late Sunday night. The ship was observed circling the city and flashing its landing lights. Officer Ralph Jay called the Smith Airport and asked the lights there be turned on, then drove to the field with Joe Cosgrove to see that the plane landed safely.

In the meantime Municipal Airport manager Joe Carlin arrived at the city airport, turned on the lights, and watched the ship land. After leaving Mrs. Robert G. LeTourneau off for a visit at Winona Lake, the giant twin-engine Lockheed took off a short time later for Peoria, Ill.
