The Ohio State University Marching band came to town Friday for pre-game and half-time performances at the Warsaw-Goshen football game. Friday afternoon the band practiced at Fisher Field and at 6:20 they performed at a pep rally at Lakeview Middle School gym. The Warsaw performances were a warmup for the band before their halftime performance Saturday in South Bend at the Notre Dame-Ohio State game.
Reigning over the Tippecanoe Valley High School homecoming were Keith Haney and Karen Wright. Haney is the son of Mort and Judy Haney, Akron, and Wright is the daughter of Bill and Nova Wright, Mentone.
Georgia Helen Scott, Winona Lake, was installed as Worthy Advisor of Warsaw Assembly of Rainbow for Girls in ceremonies at the Masonic Temple.
Joe Campfield, who is opening a popcorn stand in the west window of the former Beebe grocery in the Opera House block, while washing the window was reminded of the fact that he had washed that same window before. Fifty years ago Joe took a job with N.D. Heller, who had opened a large department store in the Opera House block. In 1881 Joe went into the Heller establishment as a clerk and one of his duties was to clean the windows. So 50 years ago Joe washed that selfsame window in the Opera House block.
