    Sherri Ruggier was welcomed Monday as the newest member of the Warsaw Housing Authority board of directors.

Ruggier, of Warsaw, replaces Ray Monteith, who recently resigned from the board after 10 years of service.

September 28 1979

    The Warsaw Christian School defeated the Calvary Temple Trojans of South Bend 2-0.

Darren Young and Jeff Mathison scored goals for the winners with assists from Tim Shipley and Bryan Lunch. Pete Gross was the Warsaw goalie and Jon Cerny led the winners with 10 clears.

September 28 1954

    Joe R. Miller was installed commander of the John C. Peterson American Legion Post 49, of Warsaw, at installation ceremonies at the Legion home.

Other officers installed were Robert Pfeiffer, first vice commander; Robert Heagy, second vice commander; Don Dubbs, adjutant; George Bumbaugh, finance officer; Carrol Odell, chaplain; William Meitzler, historian; A.G. "Hap" Breaks, service officer; Jack Bullers, sergeant at arms.

September 28 1929

    Upon raising the hood to the engine of his car, after having driven it from 5 to 9 a.m. today, Bob Gast was startled to hear the frightened "m-e-o-w" of a little yellow kitten which was cuddled up by the steering rod under the hood. The cat was trembling violently when lifted from its dangerous sleeping place. How it got in the car is a mystery to Gast.
