September 28 1995

    NORTH MANCHESTER - Two local students will perform in musical groups at Manchester College during the 1995-96 school year.

Shawn Kobb, a trumpet player, and son of Ken and Millie Kobb, Nappanee, and Andrea Bowman, playing the clarinet, daughter of Al and Bonnie Bowman, Winona Lake, are both members of the Manchester College Jazz Ensemble and the Manchester College Concert Band.

    The back of Elmer Cook's pickup truck was just about filled with a very large 85-pound squash. The squash was grown in the garden of Cook's son, Keith, Warsaw.

September 28 1955

    Who remembers when there was a nine-hole golf course where the Argonne road is now? It was from the railroad to Center Street and from the street car tracks to the gravel pit. There was a club house near where Arnolds is now, Company L. was camped there during World War I.

    Louie Bachelor, Goshen, manager of the American League All-Stars, which will play the Warsaw Merchants of Hillery Diamond next Saturday afternoon, writes Manager Aden Rupe of the Merchants that it is possible that "Bubbles" Hargrave, former Warsaw player, now catching for the New York Yankees, will be here to catch for the Merchants.
