    The winners of the first elementary golf tournament Sept. 16 at Stonehenge were both from Jefferson School. The girl winners are Emily Johnson, Carlyn Sanders and Jessica Howington. The boy winners are Adam Johnson, Brad Simmons and Adam Huskey and Lonnie Husky

September 27 1980

    George Heaton, manager of Lake City Bank's Winona Lake office since its opening in December 1965, will retire soon. A big party is planned at the Winona Lake Bank facility.


50 Years Ago

September 27 1955

    Irvin Lemler, of Bourbon, won first place in the state fair vegetable judging contest. His score was 966 points out of 1,000. Ka Rettinger, also of Bourbon, was fourth and Jay Wiedman was fifth in the same contest. Irvin and Jay won trips to the national contest at New Orleans. Dick Wagoner, of Bourbon, won a $75 scholarship to Purdue. Rettinger was elected president of the Indiana Junior Vegetable Growers Association for 1955-56.
