    The Warsaw Community High School marching band placed first in Class A competition at the Concord Invitational Saturday at Elkhart.

The Tiger's Pride competed against six other Class A bands. The band also took first place in overall music and marching, and second place in general effect.

    U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Cadet Paul J. Miller, son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Miller of Milford, has been promoted to the rank of cadet staff sergeant at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The cadet is a 1975 graduate of Wawasee High School, Syracuse.

    Sasha Ann Hire, Syracuse, left Wednesday for Oberlin, Ohio, where she will enroll at Oberlin Conservatory of Music for her freshman year. She will study voice and piano. Sasha Ann is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Millard Hire.

    Dayton Paxton, manager of the H.J. Schrader & Co. tire store, has on display at the fair about the largest tire ever seen here. It is a Goodrich truck tire 44x10, is a monster and is attracting much attention.
