September 25 1996

    Three Warsaw Community High School seniors recently were named semi-finalists in the 42nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Among the 15,000 semifinalists are Stephanie Ellis, daughter of Jim and Lynn Feldman and Lanny Ellis, Warsaw; Lori Goshert, daughter of Carol Reed and Dave Goshert, Warsaw; and Jill Sibray, daughter of Paul and Ann Sibray, Silver Lake.

September 25 1981

    Out on CR 200N, near North Webster, duck farmers Mel and Ethel Weaver "grew" a something they took to the Soil and Conservation people here and it was identified as an "ornamental squash." That rascal was in the garden, near their zucchini; is 5 feet, 4-inches long and 12 inches in diameter at its widest. It's green, and shaped like a horse collar.

September 25 1956

    An Akron man has retired after 51 years of continuous service for the Erie Railroad company.

Fred Roe has been succeeded as station agent in Akron by E.H. Drabenstott, of Huntington.

September 25 1931

    The final recital for the summer season will be given by pupils of Opal Hepler Ruple at 8 p.m. today in the Hepler home. The following pupils will appear: Marie Lippincott, June Kendall, Howard Wright, Donna Belle Thomas, Helen Kyle, Mildred Groves, Vera Scott, Bonna Jean Shank, Olga Longenecker, Donna Jean Weldy, Francine VanCuren, Howard Wright, Helen Lippincott, Earl Robinson and Junius VanCuren.
