The 1993 Triton Homecoming Court was announced at halftime of the Triton-John Glenn football game last Friday. Members of the court are Queen Kimberly White, daughter of George and Debra White of Etna Green; King, Mark Morris, son of Larry and Vicki Watkins, Bourbon; Princess, Tosha Watkins, daughter of Tom and Jane Watkins; and Prince Chris Gray, son of Arley and Tami Escapule of Bourbon.
Chris Kammerer, former chief of the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department, was named Fireman of the Year at the Kosciusko County Fireman's Association fish fry last week. Kammerer spent 38 years, from 1934 to 1972, as a fireman with the Leesburg department. He served as chief for 25 of those years, from 1945 to December 1970.
Fourteen vocational agriculture students from Mentone attended the state fair last week. The 4-H swine show was the main attraction to them as their classmate, Burdell Blackburn, was showing his entry that day. Students are Wayne Romine, Joe Hedington, Jim Eaton, Larry Long, Jim Romine, Larry Boggs, Roger Frantz, Jerry Tinkey, Max Blackburn, Melvin Miller, Tom Hoover, Garwin Eaton, Robert Boggs and Jack Smalley.
The wheelbarrow polo contest in connection with the Leesburg homecoming was played Friday and Saturday afternoons was won by the Firestone boys, who defeated the Pine Knots 3 to 2.
