    Mary Peterson, Etna Green, recently won the grand prize from Chronister Card and Gift, Marketplace of Warsaw, during Chronister's Precious Moments event honoring the completion of the Precious Moments chapel, Carthage, Mo. Peterson won two round-trip airline tickets and one night's accommodation in Carthage. Jackie Helmke presented the certificate.

    Navy Sonar Technician Second Class Philip E. Gates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gates of Route 2, Pierceton, was promoted to his present rank aboard the escort ship, USS Albert David, homeported at San Diego.

    Mrs. Clifford Payne, of North Webster and Marion, was elected grand chief of the Pythian Sisters of Indiana at a session of the Grand Temple held in the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis this week at which Mrs. Alma Myers, of Warsaw, retiring grand chief, presided.

    Mrs. Clarice Leighty, 94, grandmother of Charles Wheeler, mother of Mrs. George H. Jordan, who yesterday celebrated her 94th birthday, is believed to be the oldest woman of Kosciusko County. She makes her home with Mrs. Juna Gochenour, of South Washington Street.
