    Larry Poyser received a plaque from Joyce Cofer, director of patient services for the Indiana Chapter of Multiple Sclerosis Society. Poyser was recognized recently as the volunteer of the year for his work with MS patients in Kosciusko County.

    Six youngsters took first place prizes, while 12 others were honored with seconds and thirds at the annual Punt, Pass and Kick competition this past Saturday at Lincoln Field.

Winners included Tim Miniear (8-year-old group), Robert N. Johnson (9), Terry Burgh (10), Bob Buhler (11), Ben Stage (12) and David Bert (13).

    The Pi Beta Club of South Whitley held the judging recently of the community petunia garden, which was the club's project for the summer. Following the close of school, petunia seeds were distributed by the club members to the children of the community.

Dick and Larry Lancaster, who had their garden together, won first place and a prize of $6. Dennis King won second place and $4. Donna Schannep was the third-place winner and received $2. Those winning honorable mention were Donna Cobb, Gail Wood, Carolyn Holler and Ned Ramsey.

    Ed Poulson, secretary of Warsaw Lodge BPO Elks, has received the appointment as chairman of the auditing committee of the Indiana Elks' Association, the appointment being made by J.M. McMichael, of Gary, president of the state association.
