Dick Haines of Winona Lake is the 1992 Kosciusko County Firemen's Association Fireman of the Year.
Haines has devoted 17 years of his life to firefighting, including five years as chief of Winona Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He also has developed his interest into a family affair, with four sons currently serving in various departments - Todd is assistant chief at Milford, Brian is a fireman at Leesburg, Bobby is a fireman at Etna Green and Troy is assistant chief at Winona Lake.

WEST LAFAYETTE - Fifteen Purdue University students have been selected as twirlers in the majorette corps in the "All-American" Marching Band.
One of the new twirlers is Ann Elizabeth Porter, Syracuse.

George Paton, well-known Leesburg and Tippecanoe Lake business man, and Mrs. DeWitt (Phyllis) Mullett, Warsaw, have been appointed chairman and vice-chairman of the Kosciusko County Young Republican Club, it was announced today.

Prosecuting Attorney William G. Loehr this morning received notice that one of his White Wyandotte pullets received a third prize at the Indiana State Fair just held. There were about 1,000 entries in this class, Loehr said.
By the same mail he received word from the Missouri State Experiment Station at Mountain Grove that a pen of his Wyandottes ranked 12th in the egg laying contest out of the 60 pens at the Missouri station.
