Tippecanoe Bridge Club met with six tables of bridge. Hostesses were Sara Smith, Nancy Pirle and Frances Carr.
For the second year in a row, The Times-Union and reporter Liz Cutler were awarded the Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities Media Award.
Dorothy Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Thompson, and Sandra Kay Polk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Polk, all of Claypool, were named second and first place winners respectively in their various demonstration contest divisions at the state fair. Polk won first in the 4-H home economics electrical demonstration contest with "family favorites electria-fried." Thompson placed second with "double-quick cheery pink," demonstration in the special baking contest.
Leonard and Lester Helser, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Helser, of East Main Street, have gone to Lafayette where they will be students at Purdue University.
