    Students at Claypool Elementary School recognized national DARE Day Thursday by spelling out the program name and having a balloon launch. DARE, Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a national education program putting police officers in schools to teach the dangers of drugs.

    The Lake Tippecanoe Sailing Club sponsored a two-day regatta for Lightning skippers on Sept. 7th and 8th.

Trophies were presented to George Buckinham 1st, Ken Wood 2nd and Doug Schmaht 3rd place. Rear Admiral trophy was graciously accepted by Herbert Gawthrop.

    Workmen are putting the finishing touches on new U.S. Highway 30 between Warsaw and Columbia City, and although the road is not officially open, local traffic has been seen on the new pavement for several days.

When the entire stretch of the new road is completed and officially in use, it will cut the distance between Columbia City and Warsaw to approximately 18 miles, it is reported.

    A variety of fungus, said by some to be monster fall mushrooms, was on display here today, found in a well at the home of Mrs. W.M. Lloyd, South McClellan Street, Warsaw.
