September 15 1995

    "The Biggest Little Post in Indiana," North Webster American Legion Post 253, participated in the State Golf Tournament in Fort Wayne. The tournament was held on two separate courses, and more than 500 members of the Legion statewide participated. Post 253's No. 1 team repeated as state champion for the third straight year.

The team consisted of Kerry Koontz, Steve Dodd, Jack Hensler and Jim Luellen. They had a score of 601 in two rounds, an average of 75 per player.

    Navy Builder 1st Class Russell M. Hoppus, son of Robert M. and Ruth S. Hoppus, Warsaw, was promoted to his present rank while serving at Naval Air Station, Lemoore, Calif.

A 1971 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, he joined the Navy in May 1974.

September 15 1955

    Ralph Frantz, of Warsaw, was among the team of performers representing the second Indiana Farm Bureau district on a state fair amateur talent program in Indianapolis.

Frantz sang a vocal solo, accompanied by his sister, Lucetta.

September 15 1930

    KOKOMO - Margaret Alice Reichenbach, Noblesville, and Edward Phelps, North Webster, Sunday were married in an airplane 1,000 feet above relatives and friends who watched from the ground. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A.D. Burkett, pastor of North Webster M.E. Church.
