    John Butler and Dennis Gaerte, both of Warsaw, graduated from Purdue University in August.

Butler received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering technology, and Gaerte earned a doctor of philosophy degree.

September 15 1981

    Pamela Carlberg made her home town of Bourbon and her "working" city of Warsaw extremely proud and happy when she was chosen third runner-up in the Miss America pageant at Atlantic City, N.J.

The tall, beautiful Miss Indiana not only made the final 10 in the nationally televised contest but emerged as one of the last five hopefuls and placed ahead of the pageant favorite, Miss Texas.

September 15 1956

    Three Kosciusko County dairy breeders have captured honors at the Indiana State fair.

Officials listed Smoker and Osborn, Leesburg, Emra Stookey and Sons, Milford, and Ross and Voyle Osborn, Leesburg, as winners in the dairy breeder contests.

75 Years Ago

September 15 1931

    Charles Thayer, of Winona Lake, has been spending this week at Kansas City, Mo., as delegates to the national convention of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. He is president of the chapter at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, Mass. The delegates are being entertained at the beautiful new Kansas City Athletic club house.
