Another instance of a hog being imprisoned for many days was recalled by the recent finding of the hog in the dry well at the Grayston Ruhl farm, near Syracuse. This incident occurred about 45 years ago on a farm on Road 15 south. The hog, weighing about 250 pounds, belonged to the late Gene Pittenger. It disappeared for three months. In some way it became caught in a pile of logs in the woods on the farm. Snow came and covered the logs and the hog. When found, the animal was not able to stand up and was brought to the barn on a sled. It fully recovered from its three-month fast and regained all the weigh it had lost.
