    A balloon sent by 7-year-old Nathan Brundage, son of Richard and Susan, Rt. 9, Warsaw, landed in Spencerville, Ohio, a small town about 80 miles east of Warsaw. The balloon was one of several launched by members of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church of Warsaw.

Sept. 5 1972

    Steve Womack and Steve Steward, both whom attended Warsaw Freshman High School in 1967, made a pact after reading "After 20 Years," in English class. Womack made the 950-mile trip from Boston, expecting to meet Stewart, but Stewart, who lives in Fort Wayne, canceled because of a family health problem.

Sept. 5 1947

    Proof that the rides at the county fair are providing fun and laughter was offered Saturday by June Breneman, 22, who is employed at the Winona Hotel. June laughed just a little too much while enjoying one of the rides, and as a result her jaw locked and she was unable to close her mouth. City officers took her to the Murphy Medical Center, where doctors put the jaw back in place.

Sept. 5 1922

    Lloyd Snoke, son of James Snoke, of two miles east of Claypool, leaves the first of this week for Mary, N.D., a town many miles from the nearest railroad, where he will be an instructor in the public schools. He will receive a salary of $5 a day.
