Sept. 15 1987

    Four local residents won medals in the Senior State Games at South Bend. Winners were Phil Eherenman, gold medal in 55-64 age group 5K run; Betty Nyenhuis, silver medal in 55-64 age group for women's two-mile walk; Arthur Chaney, bronze medal in the 75-and-over two mile walk; and Dale Skinner, gold medal in men's low gross in golf.

    Jeffrey M. Nichols, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold E. Nichols, of 2106 Brookview Drive, Warsaw, was recently accepted into the freshman honors program in Christ College (Honors College) at Valparaiso University.

Sept. 15 1947

    Students at four of the city schools were rejoicing when superintendent Carl Burt ordered all students to be excused at high school, junior high school, Center Ward and West Ward. Mr. Burt decided that it was much too hot for classroom work when two or three girls reported feeling ill because of the heat, which registered 93 degrees at 2 p.

Sept. 15 1922

    Three suspicious strangers blew into Bourbon Wednesday evening and hung about the railroad yards. While it was not known that they contemplated any mischief, the guards did not take any chances with them. They were locked up overnight and sent merrily on their way the next morning. They did not give the officers any trouble.
