Sept. 13 1987

    The city of Warsaw has had 15 acres of land on Arthur Street near Pike Lake donated to be used as a new park. The land, to be named Hire Park in memory of Clifford "Winks" Hire and William "Bill" Hire, is currently being used as a BMX race track.

Sept. 13 1972

    The final 4.5 mile stretch of the U.S. 30 bypass was completed in early August. This great acievement that area resident had anxiously awaited for years becme reality. The entire 10.28 mile highway from Atwood to the east edge of Warsaw, was built at a cost of more than $10.4 million.

Sept. 13 1947

    Prudence Haymond back in Warsaw after trip to Oklahoma, where her daughter, Towena, entered the University of Tulsa as a freshman. They made the trip with the McCrea Reas, whose daughter, Marjorie, also enrolled at the university.

Sept. 13 1922

    Floyd Treesh, custodian of the county building, today figured that this summer he has walked 232 miles in mowing the grass on the court house lawn. Thus far this season,he has mowed the lawn 29 times and each time he traverses eight miles in going over the yards.
