    Jeff Pfifer and Heide Workman both of Winona Lake captured the men's and women's titles at the Grace College Homecoming 5K.

Pfifer won in a time of 17:30 and Workman won her title at 26.22.

October 9 1979

    Jackson Dobbins will be celebrating his 80th birthday on Oct. 12. He has been in the glass cutting business since he began as an apprentice June 4, 1914, with Warsaw Cut Glass Co., which he purchased in 1957. Since that time he has cut millions of pieces of glass.

October 9 1954

    Gene Likens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Colonel Likens, Pierceton, has been elected secretary-treasurer of the men's dorm at Manchester College. He is a sophomore, majoring in secondary education, and is a 1952 graduate of Sidney High School.


75 Years Ago

October 9 1929

    Doyle Clover won all blue ribbons at the county fair on his Jersey cattle. Doyle is 18 years old and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Clover. He attributes his success to the splendid coaching of Prof. H.J. Shirley, former teacher of agriculture in the Pierceton High School.
