    Two radio dispatchers have been hired and one dispatcher promoted to patrolman to fill recent vacancies at the Warsaw Police Department.

Joe Hawn was promoted from dispatcher to patrolman effective Oct. 2. New dispatchers are Karen Beumel and Leonard Baugher.

    More than 600 friends of Ed & Tom's Feed Service, at 415 E. Winona Avenue, Warsaw, were welcomed at the annual appreciation day held recently. Not one was turned away hungry as chicken and roast beef dinners were served. Following the dinner, an auction was held when the visitors to the celebration set their own price for new merchandise.

    The highest honor which they can bestow has been conferred upon Mrs. Alma Myers, of this city, by the Phythian Sisters of Indiana at the 60th annual grand temple held this week at the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis.

Mrs. Glenn Carpenter, of this city, was re-appointed district deputy grand chief for District No. 1.

October 9 1923

    J.W. Scott, Commercial Telephone Co., superintendent, and F.A. Gruver, head lineman, engineered the transfer of phone service from the old Times office to the new one and had the United Press leased wire equipment transferred ready for use within a few hours after the Times left the old building Saturday.

This made it possible to maintain our record of not missing a publication day in the history of the paper, dating from 1856, a period of 67 years for the Northern Indianian and 42 years for the Daily Times.
