    Word has it that a couple of Warsaw men didn't exactly come home with a prize fish after traveling to the upper peninsula of Michigan. Of the four, Mouse Leake bagged a duck, and the rest, Burt Cochran, Kim Leake and Terry Thompson, came back with a "very few" big fish. Thompson, though, had the worst luck. After buying some boots, he realized both boots were for the same foot. Worse off, they had to drive about 90 miles to exchange the footwear.

    Ray Monteith, owner of Monteith Firestone Tire Co., north of Warsaw on State Road 15, was awarded a silver pocket watch recently for his 20 years service with the company. The last seven years have been in a dealership capacity.

    Jeannine McKown, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred McKown, 115 N. Columbia St., Warsaw, was a special guest at a tea given Sunday afternoon, on the lawn of the president's home on the Stephens College campus at Columbia, Mo.

Dr. and Mrs. Homer Price Rainey entertained more than 200 daughters and sisters of Stephens College alumnae. All of the guests at the tea, one of the outstanding social events of the fall season, are now enrolled at the college.

October 8 1923

    The big 50,000 gallon water tank erected at the Big Four switching yards just north of this city was completed ready for use yesterday. Joe Overman, foreman of construction, of Wabash, has had 10 men working on the job for many weeks. The tank is one of the largest on the line.
